Our Story

How it all started...

In 1921, a bunch of Lutherans in Jonesburg with the prompting of some missionaries and mission minded people from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, decided to start a meeting of Lutherans in Warrenton. For the first fifty years of its existence, the St. John's family met on Elm St. near downtown Warrenton. In 1971 they moved to their present location at 950 South State Hwy 47. Over the last 50 years the church has grown and at times declined, but it has always remained faithful. On Reformation Day, October 31, 2022 they dedicated their newest addition a new, state of the art, fellowship hall.

Expanding the vision...

Even though we have been around for more than 100 years, our mission remains the same. We still exist to praise and honor God with our whole lives, and part of that praise and honor is to fulfill God's great commission of bringing the lost to Christ!  That's what we will continue to do for as long as St. John's exists!

Where we are headed...

We are in a huge growth area of Warrenton with subdivisions and apartments going up all around us. That means that there are many new people in Warrenton, and many of them don't know or have a relationship with Jesus. It is up to us, according to Paul in Romans 10, to bring the good news of Jesus to them, and to be as inviting and open as we are able when those who are lost come to us!
